AI is not going to take your job - How to use AI for content creation

A robot and human hand with electricity between them

Here's a prompty I put into ChatGPT: write a short intro paragraph for a blog about storytelling.

The result:

"Embark on a journey into the enchanting world of storytelling with our latest blog. From the captivating power of narratives to the artistry behind crafting compelling tales, we delve into the intricacies that make storytelling a timeless and universal human experience. Join us as we explore the magic, impact, and techniques that transform ordinary stories into extraordinary moments."

That sucks.

I mean, it's well written and it did exactly what I asked, but it's no replacement for the personality of an actual human. I hear people all of the time who are afraid of AI and the bad that it's going to do, especially by replacing all of our job. No it's not.

The current marketing landscape is dictated by content, content, content. Your audience is inundated with content every second of the day. It probably hasn't been this difficult to get the attention of people since you had to travel by horse and buggy to the town square and yell as loud as you could. Is the content that ChatGPT wrote going to capture anyone's attention? Is it interesting? No. What captures attention is authenticity. While these new fangled robots can appear human, they still lack the understanding of human empathy...for now.

However, AI tools like ChatGPT can be really useful for creating content. I like to think that it gets you to the starting line quicker. Here's how you can use AI for content creation:

Brainstorming

This is probably how I use AI the most. I love working and brainstorming with other people, but that is not always an option...and I get lonely. The reason why brainstorming is fun is because when another is brain inolved you can come up with ideas you wouldn't have found on your own. Think of these tools as another brain.

Get over the getting started hurdle

How many times have you sat down to work on content and you struggle to get started? Let me check my inbox first. Wait, how is the stock market doing? Will I need a jacket tonight? So many things can make it easy to not get started. If you type a prompt into ChatGPT, the result won't be perfect, but guess what? You got started in seconds!

Work faster

I think it's obvious at this point. It's just faster to have someone write the content for you and then you can go through and edit it and make it your own. As long as you making it authentically you, who cares how it got started?

Content improvement

Finally, it can be really beneficial as a grammar and typo check. And for those of us you have a tendency to be long winded (me) it can help make content more concise.

So, don't be afraid of the robots. Embrace them. The generation after us will. Besides who wants to do the heavy lifting? Robots can lift more than my puny human body can anyway.
